An inline UPS takes over the instant grid power fails. Cabin lighting stays on, the controller stays awake and the doors keep cycling — passengers don't even feel the hand-off. Standard on every ESA cabin.
Layer 02 · Secondary UPS
A second, deeper-capacity battery dedicated to ESA home elevators. Doubles run-time so the cabin can complete its planned travel — never freezes mid-shaft — even after the primary UPS is depleted.
Layer 03 · Roof hatch
An emergency exit panel set into the cabin ceiling, latched from the outside. Trained service crew can access the cabin from above for controlled passenger rescue if the cabin ever stalls between floors.
Layer 04 · Door release
Behind every landing door is a keyed manual release. In a power-loss or controller fault, our service team can open any floor's door from outside, line up the cabin and bring passengers out safely.
Layer 05 · Pull lever
An external lever — a mechanical button for hydraulic drives or a pull-lever for gearless drives — sits outside the shaft. It lets the cabin descend to the nearest floor under its own weight, with no power needed.
Layer 06 · SOS link
A single button opens a 24/7 monitored two-way audio line. Answered by our ops desk within minutes — logged, tracked, and automatically escalated to a service van if the cabin needs more than reassurance.

A full-height grid of infrared beams scans the door opening on every cycle. The doors re-open the instant anything crosses the beam — a hand, a stroller, a coat sleeve. Faster than a contact strip, and it never wears out.
For cabins travelling above 1 m/s, a speed governor sits beside the rails ready to trip. If overspeed is ever detected, progressive jaws clamp the rails and ramp the friction up over centimetres — the cabin decelerates smoothly, never with a jolt.
